I am going to talk about What is Digital Marketing? Why Marketing? And How to do it?
The fundament of the Marketing
Digital marketing is more about Marketing, Digital is a medium.
So, First, you have to understand Marketing then you have to use digital media (website, SEO, Facebook Ads, etc.) I was running Facebook ads and I lost 100s INR and didn’t get any result. In that, I made a mistake. I used Digital media (Facebook ads) before learning marketing. I didn’t know how to do marketing. then realize that first, I have to learn marketing.
You are thinking that marketing is for creative people only. But it’s not true.
Marketing is about sending the right message to the right person at the right time. let’s take an example, I want to buy a smartphone under 15,000 INR.
I search for “Best Smartphone under 15000 INR” on Google. Read the articles and decided to buy Samsung Galaxy M21. Below pic, show buys at amazon button. AND AND it is the Affiliate marketing link. (Affiliate is one of the parts of the marketing)
That website sends the right product (right message) to me (the right person) at right time.
Marketing is not just about selling products or services. the purpose of marketing is to build a brand & capture the position in the minds of the consumers. (whenever I want to know about smartphones I visit 91mobile.com or gadgets.ndtv.com)
Traditional Vs. Digital Marketing
India has TVs in 197 million out of 298 million homes. TV has a reach of 1 billion people. But when to use TV ads or Digital Marketing?
Simple, If a product is genetic with a very wide targeting then TV Ads can reach millions at a low cost. Ex. You have seen ads for Lifeboy Sope on tv because it is an essential product and every household used sope. where if you want to sell a digital marketing course then you will choose digital marketing because it has a narrow range of audiences.
My plan to 1 crore from Digital Marketing in 5 year
Wait, 1 crore is a big number.
Well, if you sell 100 INR products to 20,000 per year then you can make 1 crore in 5 years. it looks simple.
My plan is to start a Freelancing service. On average price of service is 10,000 INR*. So, In 5 years I need 1000 clients. This means every month I have to serve my service to 16 clients per month. it is a little bit big number in the starting. but it is achievable.
Personal Branding
“The best known will always beat the best.”
If Elon Musk wants to start a new business then should he need to struggle with fundraising? No, because He is a brand, (He has more following than SpaceX or Tesla).
If you want to buy a car. You search for 3–5 cars but you are confused. then one of your relatives suggest a car and you bought that one. why? because people want to hear from people, not from brands.
If you suggest something to anyone then he/she will take a look. A personal brand becomes an influencer & a brand ambassador for the companies that they run.
Let’s understand the evolution of the personal brand.
Personal branding starts with Learning. Learn New skills through facts & procedures. Understand basics concepts and practice them.
Then Work: Whatever you learn put it into work. Implement it in the real world which will give you more understanding. Here work means Job, freelancing, own project, etc.
Blog: write about what you learn and experience. improve it from your mistake. when you write you understand it better, Also you can start your personal brand.
Consult: Now, you learn fundaments, you have work experience and you have your personal brand through the blog. Start consulting other businesses instead of working for them.
Mentor: now you have to scale your understanding. mentor others who want to be like you. Mentoring will help you scale your understanding to a whole new level.
StartUp: now you understood fundamentals and improve that understanding. Start your own product or service that you have developed about the market, the problem, and your own skill.
